Fade In On Garageband Ipad
I am recording on garageband 10.0.0 and am trying to create some crossfades for punch ins/punch outs for guitar and bass tracks. I've been doing them manually since, to my knowledge, there is no fade tool or anything like it, for the version of GB at least. Thus far, the cross fades are somewhat effective in getting rid of some of the 'popping/clicking' between punch ins. It doesn't always work and when it does, it usually just reduces the volume of the popping, which is good, but not enough for the project I'm working on.
Basically, I've been creating 2 kinds of fades, and can't really tell which is more effective in getting rid of the popping, or if there is any difference at all..
Pic #1 below: 'V-Shaped', which has 3 points - one within the first section, one at the exact spot of the break between sections, one in the new section.
Pic #2 : 'U-Shaped', which has at least 4 points - 2 within the first section (first at the main volume, the next on the floor), then the next 2 in the next section (first on on the floor, next back at the main volume).
I haven't noticed a consistent difference between the 2, but I'm wondering if one is better/more correct than the other, or if there is another factor here I'm not considering. What is baffling to me is that there is still a click at all after doing these, since it is the break between the sections (now muted with a cross fade) that makes the popping..or am I wrong about that?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm trying to do all my editing today to send a lot of songs off from mixing by tomorrow. Thanks!
